 | Stephanie
Marie McMahon was born into power on September 20, 1976 in Hartford, Connecticut,
the daughter of Vince and Linda McMahon, and the sister of Shane. She grew up
learning the means of wrestling from both the real-life and fantasy aspects. Shane
would practice wrestling moves on her at their home in Greenwich...she says it
was like learning self-defense. One of her earliest memories was being backstage
after a show, and George "The Animal" Steele came into the back, all wild and
wooly as he was, with his green tongue hanging out, and it scared Stephanie so
bad she ran and hid behind her father, who, along with George, started laughing.
Stephanie made her first official appearance with the WWF at Rowdy Roddy Piper's
Halloween party, and around age 13 she started appearing in WWF Magazine ads to
model various wrestling paraphanilia.

Linda McMahon encouraged her daughter to try to make a name for herself elsewhere,
Steph always wanted to work with her family. After graduating from high school
and eventually from Boston University in 1998, she became an Account Executive
at Titan Sports (now WWFE) in New York. It was later in the year that Stephanie
began appearing on WWF TV. Her first encounter was when she passed Stone Cold
Steve Austin in a hallway. From there, she would occasionally appear with Linda
McMahon, usually standing beside her or behind her. It wasn't until the Undertaker
abducted her as part of his "Ministry of Darkness" angle when Steph was pushed
into the WWF spotlight. The Undertaker abducted Steph and arranged for an unholy
wedding between himself and Steph. It was her dad's nemisis, Steve Austin, who
came to her rescue. A month later, Steph and Linda "sold" their WWF
ownership to Austin, who became CEO of the WWF. As an act of business, Austin
arranged for members of the Union stable for a match with whomever they wished.
Test called Steph out, and asked her for a date, which she accepted (much to the
fury of Vince and Shane). From there a romance blossomed and eventually were engaged
(it was during this time when Steph had her first match, a tag-team victory with
Test against Jeff Jarrett and Debra). Despite a brief bout with amnesia (courtesy
of the British Bulldog), Steph and Test had their wedding on November 29, 1999
and all was well....until Triple-H showed up, revealing that he had drugged Steph
and had married her at a Las Vegas drive-thru wedding. Furious, Vince challenged
HHH and lost, when Steph turned on her father. Daddy's Little Girl was now Stephanie
McMahon-Helmsley, married to the man who posed as the biggest threat to her father's
power. Vince took a leave from the WWF, which left HHH and Steph in
control. Steph eventually won the WWF Women's title, and during this time (behind
the scenes) became head of the WWF writing team. During her angle as the McMahon-Helmsley
Era saga, HHH began a feud with Kurt Angle, whom Steph seemed to take a particular
liking to. More recently, she began a feud with Trish Straus, whom Vince has "left"
Linda McMahon for. Even today, Stephanie McMahon, in real life, is single
but continues to love doing her job with the WWF. Her long-term goal is, when
the reins of the WWF are handed to her and Shane from her parents, is to take
the WWF as far as it can go. Until then, she will continue to do what she does
best: keep the WWF fans entertained.
