Biography:
Born in Rosario, Santa Fe, in Argentina, Valeria Mazza gets her italian surname
from her great-grandfather. When she was four years old, her family moved to Parana,
Entre Rios, where she grew up and went to school.
Valeria's parents, Raul
and Monica, both work in tourism. Her mother does volunteer work assisting handicapped
people, as well. Valeria's sister, Carolina, is a designer and lives in Argentina
with her husband.
When Valeria was 16, the famous Argentine hairdresser,
Roberto Giordano, spotted her and invited her to Buenos Aires. Valeria began modelling
and, at the same time, studied occupational therapy for the handicapped.
Valeria
quickly achieved celebrity status in Argentina.
After taking one look at
her, GIANNI VERSACE chose Valeria to shoot the VERSACE SPORT and VERSACE campaigns

Valeria
appeared in the advertising campaign for GUESS? and was chosen for the cover of
the 1996 SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Swimsuit issue.
In February 1996, Valeria was
co-host, together with Italian actress Sabrina Ferilli and TV personality Pippo
Baudo, for the internationally renowned SANREMO MUSIC FESTIVAL.
Together
with Antonio Banderas, Valeria was featured in the 1996 television spot for SANPELLEGRINO
STOCKINGS, directed by Giuseppe Tornatore with music by Ennio Morricone.
Valeria
collaborated with GENTE Argentina for the 1996 release of the book VALERIA MAZZA,
a recollection of her life-story.
Valeria continued to be photographed by
fashion's top photographers for covers, editorials, and advertising campaigns.
Valeria was also featured in a television spot for PEPSI COLA with Ricky
Martin.
In 1998, Valeria launched her own perfume line called VALERIA. The
advertising campaign was photographed by Patrick Demarchelier.
Valeria was
featured again with Antonio Banderas in the second TV spot for SANPELLEGRINO STOCKINGS
by director Alessandro D'Alatri.
In 1998, Valeria co-presented the Italian
television variety program DOMENICA IN, together with Giancarlo Magalli and Tullio
Solenghi.
In 1998, Valeria married her long-time companion, entrepreneur
Alejandro Gravier. The following year she became a mother, giving birth to a baby
boy named Balthazar.
Valeria was chosen by beauty manufacturer CLINIANS
to represent their complete skin care line.
Valeria was asked to co-host
opposite Fabrizio Frizzi, for the 2001 Rai1 television program 'SCOMETTIAMO CHE..?'
Valeria's
real passion has always been aid for the handicapped. Valeria worked and travelled
to the SPECIAL OLYMPIC GAMES FOR THE HANDICAPPED (of THE KENNEDY FOUNDATION) with
the national team of Argentina.
Valeria was also nominated by the Argentine
olympic committee as a spokesperson of the candidature of her country for the
2003 Special Olympics in Ireland.
Valeria was one of the founders of EL
SITIO, one of the major Internet companies in Latin America and the first that
went to NASDAQ.
Valeria and Alejandro welcomed their second child, Tiziano,
to the world in March 2002.
Valeria continues her modelling and television
career with advertising campaigns for MARIA DI RIPABIANCA, SWATCH and CARACTERE,
as well as conducting a fall 2002 'daily news' program for Italy's MEDIASET entitled
NESSUNO e PERFETTO, and a Spring/Summer 2003 prime-time mother/daughter game show
