Victoria Caroline Adams, also known as Posh
Spice in the pop phenomenon Spice Girls, was born on April 17th, 1975 in Hertfordshire.
Her father is a very successful businessman who owns and runs an electrical wholesale
business. She has two other siblings, Chrisian who is eighteen years old and Louise,
who is twenty.
As a child she would beg her father not to drive her to
school in their Rolls Royce because the other children would laugh and make fun
of her. Victoria Beckham was also the butt of many jokes because of her nose and
Victoria Beckham says her nickname was “Sticky Vicky”. She attended
ballet school when she was younger and did quite well scholastically. When she
was fourteen, her parents sent her to a monastery-boarding school so she could
learn proper discipline. Unfortunately Victoria encountered more than anyone had
bargained for; one of the nuns had tried to molest her. Victoria Beckham recalls
“There was a rude command-tune, we lived as in an institution. One of the
old nuns once tried to seduce me. During dinner she put her hand between my legs.
While she was burrowing herself in my skirt she spoke of god and recited Lord-Byron-poems.”
After high school Victoria Adams became a dancer and dreamed of becoming
a pop-star icon. While in College she joined a band for a short time. Her dream
was about to be realized, in March of 1993, when she saw an advertisement in an
English magazine called “The Stage”. The ad read “Are you between
18 and 23 and are able to sing and dance? Are you street-smart, extrovert, ambitious
and serious about it?” Victoria, along with
3 of the other Spice Girls (excluding Emma) to be, responded to the advertisement.
The girls auditioned and won it. Victoria Adams knew Geri because they both had
auditioned for a role in “Tank Girl.” She attended rival schools with
Mel. C. when they were fifteen and met Mel. B. at the audition. Emma’s place
in the band was originally taken by Michelle who opted out of the group some time
later because someone in her family fell ill and she wanted to attend College
instead of sticking with the band. After a few auditions, Emma was found to replace
Michelle. Victoria Beckham and Emma had known each other from childhood. They
were in a play together when they were younger. Their managers
supplied them with songs - which the girls thought to be dreadful - and tried
to force uniform dress regulations. The girls knew from the beginning that the
managers were no good. In October they separated from their managers, who were
attempting to bind the girls by an unreasonable and unacceptable contract. The
girls spent the following year writing, recording, dancing and perfecting their
group. They arrived at a management company who was lead by the manager of Annie
Lennox in March of 1995. In august they signed at Virgin records. The Spice Girls
had arrived. |
